I specialise in developing staff to meet new challenges at work and to build their careers. I offer mentoring services for creative staff who feel that their employer’s culture is holding them back, as well as anyone who works in the fields I’ve been part of (communication, universities, science companies, museums, science centres and cultural organisations).

I offer formal training in three main areas:

Creativity skills and problem-solving
Networking skills
Raising your public and professional profile

I offer training in all aspects of public engagement and communication, with a particular strength in training researchers of all kinds. Specific training courses I offer include:

Communication skills and public speaking courses
Comedy for engagement (through my CLEVERmakeFUNNY project)
Public project development, including festival projects
Basics of public engagement

I work with clients to create bespoke training that suits the needs of their staff or students, drawing on courses, exercises and ideas developed over many years of training. I tailor training to the needs of the participants, recognising for example that public engagement in the arts is very different to the sciences.

Training Session

In 2018 and 2019 I delivered the Medical Research Council’s national programme of training for researchers taking part in public events. I am also the Royal Society’s training partner for its Introduction to Public Engagement courses for elite researchers, and provide public engagement and presentation skills training to the London Arts and Humanities Partnership.

Previous clients include:
UCL, The Natural History Museum, Nesta, Arts Council England, the Medical Research Council, Queen Mary University of London, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the University of Nottingham, the University of Manchester, and Cumberland Lodge.

All of my training sessions are available in-person or via online meeting.
